Beautiful Lacroix Scarf
Something beautiful and silk arrived today from Harold’s family in France.
Three Plus One
It can be challenging to find great vintage pieces to fit every shape, which makes the three dresses below even more special. The first one is a 1970s-era silk brocade frock from Geoffrey Beene‘s Boutique label so you know it’s expertly crafted. The shirtwaist bodice and a-line skirt would be flattering on just about any body shape and the extra-long ascot can be tied in numerous ways. And check out those amazing rhinestone studded buttons! Such great details here, which is to be expected from this vintage boutique label (41″ bust, 34″ waist).
And below the Geoffrey Beene is a vintage 1960s butterscotch and black plaid jersey dress with neck tie (42″ bust, 36″ waist, 41″ hips).
Finally, we have an adorable powder blue mod day dress with a square neckline and decorative buttons (38″ bust, 34″ waist, 40″ hips).

Have a Cowl
Scarves are great, but sometimes a girl (or a guy) needs a cowl. Although, when men wear them I think they’re called gaiters.
Whatever you call them, I prefer tightly crocheted or knitted neck warmers with functional buttons because they offer more flexibility; you can go for a prim buttoned up look, a partially buttoned open collar look, or let it hang loosely down your shoulders like a capelet. Most cowls are also easy to stash in your purse or bag when not in use (depending on the size of your bag that is). One more thing, if you’re the fashionable type, definitely stay away from fleece cowls. Unless you’re going for that extreme camping look.
The absolute best place to find original, handmade cowls is etsy of course. Below are some of my favorites (there’s even one for dogs). Click on each image to see the listing.

Featured Seller: Celapiu
Sometimes I come across a shop on etsy and find myself favoriting nearly everything in the store. Celapiu is one of those sellers.
Celapiu [tse-lah-pyoo] is an independent Polish label specializing in cold weather accessories: scarves, gloves and various head coverings. The label was founded in 2005 by designer Celina Dębowska.
My favorite items are her felted fox scarves (no foxes were harmed in the making of these accessories). “Felt Fokses” can be made to order in many different shades, just contact the shop with your specifics. They are simply adorable. Click on each image below to see the full listing.

A Creamy Crop of Capes
You don’t have to be royalty to drape yourself in a creamy confection like Kate’s. On etsy, “tvkstyle” will make you a replica of the duchess formerly known as Kate Middleton’s Angora wedding shrug for a pauper’s price. Let them eat cape! Capes. Ponchos. Swing coats. Shrugs. Shawls. Crochet. Knit. Angora. Wool. Fur. Leather. Fringe. Here are some of the best in creamy cover ups from eBay and etsy this week. Click on each image to go to the listing.

Fall 2011: Season of the Jagburn
The long, lean and glam looks of the 70s are back this fall, reminiscent of the golden age of Halston, Lanvin and Pucci. This look is less disco and more 1970s does 1940s Katharine Hepburn. Dolce & Gabbana fox fur jacket (price upon request), Giorgio Armani trousers ($1,050) and blouse ($1050), Missoni platform sandals ($880), Charvet scarf (price upon request).
You too can channel your inner Bianca Jagger or Katharine Hepburn or “Jagburn” this fall with men’s suit inspired pieces, a mile long scarf, high waisted trousers with pleats and a faux fur topper.
