Crazy for Courrèges
Those of you who follow This Week’s Look know how much we covet vintage André Courrèges. That’s why this week we are thrilled to show you this rare 1960s Courrèges two-tone mod/space age dress. Look at that hand-written label, custom designed for Bonwit Teller. Just unbelievable. This dress is everything you would expect from a 1960s Courrèges, simple structure, clean lines, and very expensive (but the seller is accepting offers). A Nod to Mod
This week we usher in the month of March in a modly mood, despite the disappointing fact that “modly” is not a word. But as the saying goes, rules are made to be broken. We have a monstrous, wildly bureaucratic justice system built on that very notion.
Back to March. You’re not really winter, you’re not really spring, you weird and wily month. We think you will agree, march is a much better verb than it is a noun. That’s why we’re going on a modly march this March. The first installment in our March nod to mod begins with the classic 1960s dress. This week, we curated for you a collection of the most exquisite vintage dresses on eBay, all still up for bid. Click on each image below to see the individual seller’s listing.

Vintage Sears Fashion
Kestrin and Jonathan, a fashionable and multi-talented couple here on the L.A. scene, recently made a baby, as well as a feature-length film. I’m not sure in which order, as baby and film are both currently in post-production, but at some point in the process there was a baby shower/baby naming competition with brackets and everything, and it was on that evening that the couple gifted me with a book called Fashionable Clothing from the Sears Catalogs. Never before has friendship rang so harmoniously, as if they periscoped down into my true inner being and retrieved a polyester pants suit.
The aforementioned book served as our inspiration this week, as we scrubbed etsy and eBay clean of vintage fashions from the near-extinct Sears chain of department stores. Hell, we even found stuff for men too. Click on each image below to see the individual listing.

We Interrupt This Hiatus
This Week’s Look is taking a break this summer to focus on foster dog training and other off-internet activities, but we still couldn’t resist sharing what we found on eBay this week. This 1960s shift dress is so mod and minty fresh with its prim, high collar and adorable daisy appliques, it’s perfect for the office and the weekend. Click on the images below to see the seller’s listing.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
This week we found an iconic 1960s “Century of Boston” mod cage dress on etsy. This would look amazing with a nude bodysuit underneath, or if you have the abs to pull it off, just a bandeau bra as pictured. It reminds me of this Courrèges window dress from the late 1960s (first picture). Click on the second and third images below to see the seller’s etsy listing.
