This week we usher in the month of March in a modly mood, despite the disappointing fact that “modly” is not a word. But as the saying goes, rules are made to be broken. We have a monstrous, wildly bureaucratic justice system built on that very notion.
Back to March. You’re not really winter, you’re not really spring, you weird and wily month. We think you will agree, march is a much better verb than it is a noun. That’s why we’re going on a modly march this March. The first installment in our March nod to mod begins with the classic 1960s dress. This week, we curated for you a collection of the most exquisite vintage dresses on eBay, all still up for bid. Click on each image below to see the individual seller’s listing.

The season premiere of Mad Men this week spawned tons of parodies inspired by that little birthday song and dance captured below. But our eyes were transfixed on that gorgeous black mini dress with its sheer, accordion pleated chiffon angel sleeves and rhinestone encrusted collar. I recently discovered lingerie by I.D. Sarrieri and am in love nearly every piece in the collection. There’s some retro pinup styles but without being too kitschy. There are some nice classics too. Below are a few of my favorite pieces. Click on each image below to see the the listing. Also, check out the “outlet” tab on their website for some great prices.

I don’t know much about royalty or Kate Middleton or what a queen consort-to-be does in her free time, but I know a knockout dress when I see one. Ever since the Duchess of Cambridge appeared this summer in a blue lace dress by Erdem, copycats have popped up all over the Internet.
I love the simplicity of the dress with its bateau neckline and half sleeves, it feels very vintage 1960s. There are many ways you can work a lace dress into your rotation this season without looking like a fad-chasing Kate wannabe. We found a number of timeless, vintage pieces on etsy and eBay this week. Click on each image below to see the full listing.

Earlier this month, Banana Republic and AMC debuted a Mad Men-inspired collection in collaboration with the show’s Emmy-winning costume designer Janie Bryant. The collection offers a modern take on 1960s style for both men and women.
With or without Janie Bryant’s help, a 1960s look is easy to pull off with a few basic pieces. One of the main staples of this look is a tailored lace shell, as pictured above left. Pair it with a pencil skirt or cropped cigarette trousers, throw a jacket over it for the office or dress it up with rhinestones for cocktails. Trust me, you will get a lot of mileage out of this piece.
You can go straight to Banana Republic’s website right now and buy this remake of a 1960s lace shell for $50, or you can pick up an original for much less. Below are some vintage and newer lace tops we found on etsy and ModCloth this week. Click on each image to see the full listing.
