Unisex Vintage Vests
Welcome to part two of our two-part expose’ on vintage vests. As you may recall, part one skewed more toward our feminine demographic, with plans to showcase the masculine end of the vest range in part two. Back to School
This Week’s Look is back from summer vacation and the fall/winter shopping is already in progress. In preparation for the imminent seasonal shift, earlier this summer we scored a couple pairs of vintage, leather driving gloves and a 1970s caramel leather blazer at cheap heatwave prices. This jacket will probably top a black and white striped, long-sleeved, crew neck t-shirt and skinny jeans. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. There’s a heat wave presently plaguing us here in southern California, so we’re going to have to put those treasures on hold until further notice.

Always in Accord
I love knife pleats and fortuny pleats, but accordion pleats are by far my favorite of the pleat varietals. And they’re going to be quite ubiquitous come spring 2012, especially in skirts. Vintage Clampers
I have a predilection for vintage clampers, those hinged bracelets that rely on the tension from the hinge to stay closed (although some have clasps as well). Vintage clampers can be found in just about every material imaginable: Bakelite, Lucite, plastic, silvertone, enamel, celluloid. Some are abstract, Art Deco, or Art Nouveau, some even come in animal shapes. Some are flashy and rhinestone encrusted and some are mod and minimalist. I love them all.

Spring Forecast
Fall is the perfect season to shop for vintage spring dresses since most shoppers have their eyes fixed on cold weather attire. And with popular designers like Marc Jacobs stacking their spring 2012 collections with vintage-inspired dresses like the one below, these silhouettes will be harder to come by once the ice begins to thaw.
This look is not just reminiscent of, it’s a total copy of the disco-era dresses of the 1970s to 1980s; those swingy, polyester, wrap/faux wrap numbers your mom used to wear. Easy on, easy off. You were probably conceived in one of these frocks.
But I’m not knocking Marc Jacobs. I actually love when designers turn to vintage looks because you can get an original for a fraction of the cost of a designer redo. Vintage Italian Knitwear
Some of the best vintage knitwear came from Italy in the 1960s and 1970s, thanks to the arrival of Italy’s ready-to-wear industry. Italian fashion looked much different than Parisian haute couture at the time – it was cleaner, with impeccable construction and bold colors.
