Off to the Laces
I don’t know much about royalty or Kate Middleton or what a queen consort-to-be does in her free time, but I know a knockout dress when I see one. Ever since the Duchess of Cambridge appeared this summer in a blue lace dress by Erdem, copycats have popped up all over the Internet.
I love the simplicity of the dress with its bateau neckline and half sleeves, it feels very vintage 1960s. There are many ways you can work a lace dress into your rotation this season without looking like a fad-chasing Kate wannabe. We found a number of timeless, vintage pieces on etsy and eBay this week. Sometimes I come across a shop on etsy and find myself favoriting nearly everything in the store. Celapiu is one of those sellers.
Celapiu [tse-lah-pyoo] is an independent Polish label specializing in cold weather accessories: scarves, gloves and various head coverings. The label was founded in 2005 by designer Celina Dębowska.

Redux on the Runway
Prada debuted some fantastic 1960s inspired dresses for the label’s Fall 2011 collection. This little number below is one of my favorites; a dropped waist, almost schoolgirl frock, with a crisp, pleated skirt and low slung belt. I especially love the high, rounded neck and oversized buttons. I’m not crazy about how they styled the dress with those snakeskin boots. I would’ve chosen sleek, white mid-calf boots with a square toe instead, but then Prada surely would’ve been accused of copying André Courrèges.

Spotted at Target yesterday, some decent vintage-style cloches for $16. Not bad, Target, no bad. Unfortunately, they only come in one size and my head is on the small side. Balmain’s Ambre Gris
I purchased a sample vial of Balmain’s Ambre Gris (no sperm whales were harmed in the production of this scent) from LuckyScent.com and, upon first scent, was completely turned off by the top note. But as it slowly warmed to my skin, I felt the overwhelming urge to buy myself an engagement ring and move to Fiji forever. It’s sweet, almost gourmand, definitely not for everyone, sexy and musky, sort of hypnotic and absolutely unforgettable. You can buy a sample vial on LuckyScent.com for $3, or the Perfumed Court.
