Double Take
Here is a white version of that vintage Courrèges coat I posted earlier today.
Fashion Files: The Goldworm Era
As a collector of vintage Italian knitwear from the 1960s to 1970s, I can tell you that original Goldworm pieces are becoming more expensive and harder to find these days.
If you are unfamiliar with the label, it was founded in 1928 by Samuel and Gertrude Goldworm. The company partnered with clothing manufacturers in Italy during the knitwear boom in the 1960s and transformed itself into a purveyor of quality, wearable art. Identifiable by the iconic smiling gold worm on the label, original Goldworm pieces are highly collectible and would make a unique and timeless addition to your vintage wardrobe.
Below are some vintage Goldworm knits we found on eBay and etsy this week. Click on each image to see the listing.

Vintage Courrèges Coat
Calling all vintage Courrèges collectors, this bright orange, double-breasted pea coat is currently up for auction on eBay. I love this timeless cut, superb structure and Peter Pan collar. Current bid $55. Click on the image to see the full listing. And to find out more about the often copied designer, see my earlier post about André Courrèges here.
Chartreuse Set
Marilyn Monroe was buried in chartreuse, the color of her favorite Pucci dress. Chartreuse is a tricky color. It’s somewhere between green and yellow and I’m never quite sure if I love it or hate it. But today I am enamored with it because I found this unusual, vintage suede purse with matching gloves, both wrapped in brown leather trim. $50 on eBay. Click on the images below to see the listing.
Rainy Days and Sundays
It’s raining here in Los Angeles today so I’m sipping coffee and browsing vintage spy coats on eBay. I already have two amazing vintage trench coats. And when I say two, I mean four of course. Still, just because I’m on a diet doesn’t mean I can’t see the dessert cart.
Today I found a vintage Lanvin spy coat in a traditional khaki. Love the tortoise-like buckles on the cuffs. The current bid on eBay is only $29.99, which is a great price for vintage Lanvin. Click on the images below to see the listing.
Have a Cowl
Scarves are great, but sometimes a girl (or a guy) needs a cowl. Although, when men wear them I think they’re called gaiters.
Whatever you call them, I prefer tightly crocheted or knitted neck warmers with functional buttons because they offer more flexibility; you can go for a prim buttoned up look, a partially buttoned open collar look, or let it hang loosely down your shoulders like a capelet. Most cowls are also easy to stash in your purse or bag when not in use (depending on the size of your bag that is). One more thing, if you’re the fashionable type, definitely stay away from fleece cowls. Unless you’re going for that extreme camping look.
The absolute best place to find original, handmade cowls is etsy of course. Below are some of my favorites (there’s even one for dogs). Click on each image to see the listing.
