Vintage Christian Dior Prêt-à-Porter

March is officially here and I’m sure you are all eager to shed your winter coats and start showing some skin. This week on eBay we were shopping for vintage sundresses and found this unbelievable 1970s Christian Dior numbered prêt-à-porter halter dress. The Dior prêt-à-porter label is between couture and boutique, which features many hand finished details but is made for domestic sizes rather than custom made for an individual. This stunning bright yellow and magenta maxi dress is actually a separate halter top and tiered skirt. Fashion Files: The Goldworm Era

As a collector of vintage Italian knitwear from the 1960s to 1970s, I can tell you that original Goldworm pieces are becoming more expensive and harder to find these days.

If you are unfamiliar with the label, it was founded in 1928 by Samuel and Gertrude Goldworm. The company partnered with clothing manufacturers in Italy during the knitwear boom in the 1960s and transformed itself into a purveyor of quality, wearable art. Identifiable by the iconic smiling gold worm on the label, original Goldworm pieces are highly collectible and would make a unique and timeless addition to your vintage wardrobe.
